The Tanzania Geological Society (TGS) invites you to the TGS 2020 Workshop and Annual Meeting that will take place in Mwanza Tanzania in November 2020. The general theme for the workshop is “Leadership, Professionalism and Ethics: Essentials of Mineral Sector Development”. This year’s workshop and annual meeting have been delayed, following the Covid‑19 pandemic and the Tanzania 2020 General Election. Nevertheless, it is anticipated that the meeting and workshop will provide unique opportunity for geoscientists in and outside the country to get together in Mwanza and deliberate on current geoscientific issues challenging our country and beyond. The workshop is planned to have scientific and non‑scientific sessions and a pre‑workshop excursion. Non‑scientific session will have speeches or talks and panel discussions on Minerals and Gem Houses and Stakeholder’s involvement in the artisanal and small scale mining. The scientific session will include both academic and professional talks by geoscientist stakeholders, and talks from invited speakers on mineral explorations techniques.
The TGS workshop and meeting activities will begin on Wednesday 25th of November 2020 and end on Saturday 28th of November 2020.
The workshop and meeting is planned to take place at the Bank of Tanzania Training Institute, Kapri Point Mwanza.

We invite ABSTRACTS for ORAL or POSTER presentations that will fit to the general theme of the workshop. Abstracts can be prepared in English or Swahili and submitted via TGS email (info@tgs.or.tz). Similarly, talks/ oral presentations can be prepared and delivered in either English or Swahili. Abstract in Kiswahili language should be submitted with English version of the Abstract. During submission of abstracts, authors should indicate their preference of either oral or poster presentation. For poster presentation, the recommended size for posters is A0 (Portrait; Width 841 x Height 1189 mm). Everyone opting for poster presentation will be assigned a space for display of his or her poster.
Excursion is planned to take place before the workshop on 25th of November 2020, right after members have registered for the workshop. The excursion is planned to be on interesting sites in Mwanza City for geology and sightseeing, Sukuma cultural centre and Saa Nane National Park (Island). Fee for the excursion is 35,000, which will cover costs for transport, refreshments and entrance fees to the park and cultural centre.

The Tanzania Geological Society announces TGS 2020 Annual Meeting and Workshop on "Leadership, Professionalism and Ethics: Essentials of Mineral Sector Development". The workshop and meeting will take place in Mwanza in November 2020. The timing for this year TGS meeting and workshop has changed (delayed) following the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and the 2020 General Election that will take place later in this year. It is anticipated that the meeting and workshop will provide a unique opportunity for geoscientists to get together in the Rock City and deliberate on current geoscintific issues challenging our country and beyond.
This year’s workshop is planned to have scientific and non-scientific sessions, and pre- and post workshop excursions. Non-scientific session will have keynote speeches and panel discussions on: (1 Tanzania Geoscientists Registration Board (TGRB); (2) Contribution of mineral markets into mineral sector; and (3) Stakeholder’s involvement in the artisanal and small scale mining. Whereas, scientific session will include traditional academic and non-academic talks by geoscientist stakeholders and talks from invited speakers on mineral explorations techniques.
The 2020 TGS annual meeting and workshop is planned to take place at the Rock City Mall in Mwanza Tanzania.

The guest of honour for the TGS meeting this year will be Hon. Kasim M. Majaliwa (MP) the Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania on behalf of the President of the United Republic of Tanzania. The Prime Minister will preside over the officiating of the TGS 2018 Annual Meeting and Workshop on the 27th of September, 2018.

The Tanzania Geological Society announces the TGS 2017 Annual Meeting and a Workshop on “Geosciences and Sustainable Energy for Industrialization and Economic Development”. The workshop and meeting will take place in Mtwara region at the end of August.
There will be four sub-themes as listed below; we are inviting abstracts for ORAL and POSTER presentations that will fit to the listed sub-themes.
There will be series of invited lecturers, which the details will be provided in the coming circulars. But for further information or comments please contact us through tgswatanzania@gmail.com
The oral and poster sessions will be focusing on the mentioned sub-themes. The standard for the poster is A0 format (Potrait, Width 841 x Height 1189 mm). Everyone will have a place for his or her poster.

Format for abstract is given below. Abstract format will be more or less similar to the format used in the previous workshop (Tanzania Geological Society 2015 Annual Meeting and Workshop). TGS members can get a copy of book of abstract of the TGS 2015 workshop from this link.
