The Tanzania Geological Society announces the TGS 2018 Annual Meeting and
Workshop on “The role of geoscientists in the Tanzania Industrial Development”.
The workshop and meeting will take place in Dodoma in the end of September 2018.

1. Guest of Honour
The guest of honour for the TGS meeting this year
will be Hon. Kasim M. Majaliwa (MP) the
Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania on
behalf of the President of the United Republic of Tanzania.
The Prime Minister will preside over the officiating of
the TGS 2018 Annual Meeting and Workshop on the 27th of September, 2018.
The workshop will cover EIGHT sub-themes (as listed below);
we are inviting abstracts for ORAL and POSTER presentations
that will fit to the listed sub-themes.
Energy for industrial development
Small scale mining in Tanzania
Legal and regulatory framework in the Tanzania’s mining sector
New updates in the geology of Tanzania
Mine waste and water management
Geo‑tourism and geo‑ethics for industrial sustainability
Environmental management and conservation in extractive industry
Entrepreneurship and innovation in extractive industry
3. VENUE AND DATES
The workshop and meeting will be held at DODOMA HOTEL in
Dodoma between 26th September and 2nd October 2018.
4. WORKSHOP ABSTRACTS
Abstracts will be accepted for either oral or poster presentation.
After submission, all abstracts will be reviewed and accepted by the
scientific committee and successful authors will be notified.
Abstracts can either be submitted to the TGS via email,
firstname.lastname@example.org, or via our website on registration portal.
5. ABSTRACT FORMAT
Abstract is limited to ONE A4 size page, text only
without any figures or tables. Top, bottom, left,
and right margins 25 mm (2.5 cm).
Title: Upper and lower case, left justified, Times New Roman font, 14 pt bold.
Contributors’ names: Upper and lower case left,
justified, first name first, surname last, Times font, 11pt.
Affiliation: Upper and lower case, left justified,
Times font, 10 pt. Numbered superscripts should be
used to indicate the affiliation of each contributor.
E-mail address can be added in parentheses at the end of
the corresponding contributor’s affiliation.
Main text: Single spaced text, Times 10 pt font, no section headings.
500 words are limited for one abstract.
6. ORAL AND POSTER SESSIONS
Oral and poster sessions will be focusing on the mentioned sub-themes.
During submission of abstracts, authors should indicate their preference of either oral or poster presentation.
The standard for the poster is A0 format
(Portrait; Width 841 x Height 1189 mm). Everyone opting for poster presentation will be assigned a space for the display of his or her poster.
7. REGISTRATION FEE FOR WORKSHOP
Registration to the workshop will be done online through our website,
whereby the portal for registration will be open until 31st August 2018. Payments of fees for the workshop registration should be done directly to the TGS bank account:

Archaeological site (~ 50 Ka rock paintings)
More information on costs and logistics for these excursions will be provided in the third workshop circular.
