Third Circular - Tanzania Geological Society (TGS) 2017 annual meeting and workshop

The Tanzania Geological Society announces the TGS 2017 Annual Meeting and Workshop on “Geosciences and Sustainable Energy for Industrialization and Economic Development”. The workshop and meeting will held at Tiffany Diamond Hotel in Mtwara between 26th August and 1st September 2017. The workshop will cover SEVEN sub-themes as listed below, with an additional theme (no. 7) that features for the first time in THIS circular; we are inviting abstracts for ORAL and POSTER presentations that will fit to the listed sub-themes.

1. Geothermal energy for sustainable development: exploration and development
2. Local content in extractive industry: exploration, development and production
3. Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) for sustainable Exploration, Development and Production activities
4. Geosciences in oil and gas sector in Tanzania: exploration, exploitation and management
5. Strategic mineral deposits: exploration and mining
6. Geoethics and geotourism
7. The State and future of gold exploration in Tanzania

Full support to the TGS 2017 workshop will be provided to ten (10) registered postgraduate students in Geosciences programs in either the University of Dar es Salaam or University of Dodoma. The students must submit an abstract for oral or poster presentation in the workshop. All applications for this support should be forwarded to Dr. Elisante E. Mshiu (via mshiutz@gmail.com) or Dr. Emmanuel O. Kazimoto (via ekazimoto@udsm.ac.tz).

The oral and poster session will be focusing on the mentioned sub-themes. The standard for the poster is A0 format (Potrait, Width 841 x Height 1189 mm). Everyone will have a place for his or her poster.

Abstracts will be accepted for either oral or poster presentation. After submission all abstracts will be reviewed and accepted by the scientific committee and successful authors will be notified. Please indicate your preference when submitting. All abstracts should be submitted with registration forms in our portal link Those who cannot access ABSTRACTS SUBMISSION LINK, for any reason, may submit their abstract via this e-mail: tgswatanzania@gmail.com. The deadline for abstract submission is extended to 10th August 2017 to provide room for more abstract to be submitted.
